  • Binhai Yuting Residential Lighting Design Case | Redefining Home Through Light

Introduction

This project is a comprehensive residential lighting design renovation for Mr. He’s private home at Binhai Yuting. By redesigning the lighting for key areas such as the balcony, dining area, living room, primary bedroom, kids’ bedroom, home office, and partition wall, we enhanced spatial layers, functionality, and overall living comfort—allowing light to truly serve everyday life.

Binhai Yuting Residential Lighting Design Case | Redefining Home Through Light

The original lighting relied mainly on basic illumination, resulting in limited visual layers and insufficient functional and emotional expression. This renovation focused on holistic planning and targeted optimization to upgrade the lighting system throughout the entire residence.

Design Concept

  • Human-centered lighting design based on daily lifestyle

  • Lighting adapts to different functions and scenarios

  • Minimized fixture visibility, enhanced spatial texture

  • Light used to define spatial hierarchy and visual flow

Living Room: The living room features a layered lighting system combining ambient, accent, and atmospheric lighting. Hidden light sources enhance spatial depth while highlighting key design elements, creating a flexible environment suitable for both social gatherings and relaxation.

Dining Area: The dining area centers around the dining table, using a carefully selected pendant light to define the space. Glare control ensures visual comfort, while supporting ambient lighting enhances warmth and dining ambiance.

Balcony: Balcony lighting focuses on comfort and safety, combined with subtle accent lighting to create a relaxing nighttime environment, transforming the balcony into a usable living space.

Home Office: The home office prioritizes high-CRI, flicker-free task lighting, complemented by soft background illumination to reduce eye strain and support extended work sessions.

Kids’ Bedroom: Lighting in the kids’ bedroom emphasizes safety and softness, avoiding harsh contrasts while allowing flexibility to adapt as the child grows.

Primary Bedroom: The primary bedroom uses warm, low-intensity lighting combined with bedside and background illumination to create a calm and restful atmosphere.

Partition Wall: The partition wall is highlighted using wall-washing and linear lighting, defining spatial boundaries through light rather than physical structures.
